Baitadi thrashes Pokhara by huge 194 runs as Janakpur wins over Kathmandu in Group B inaugural
Region No. 6 (Baitadi) and Region No. 7 (Janakpur) have won their respective matches in the third day of the Senior Women’s National Cricket Tournament 2015 on Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
In the match played at Engineering Ground, Pulchowk, Baitadi registered a huge margin194 runs victory against Region No. 8 (Pokhara) in its second match of the tournament under Group A. It had lost to Region No. 4 (Bhairahawa) in its opening match.
Pokhara was restricted just to 46 runs at 25.5 overs while chasing the target of 241 runs set by winner Baitadi. Dhana Chhantyal and Arati Bidari were the only two batters to make the double digit scores for Pokhara. Chhantyal made 12 runs while Bidari was out for 11 runs.
Baitadi’s Anjali Chand was adjudged Player-of-the-match as she alone claimed five wickets while Rekha Rawal took two wickets.
In the first inning, Baitadi had scored 240 runs for the loss of four wickets in allotted 40 overs. Dropati Kunwar and Manju Bokati made a half-century each.
Kunwar contributed highest 72 runs while Bokati made 59 runs, Anjali Chand 24 runs and Kabita Kunwar 19 runs. Saru Rajbhandari, Aarati Bidari and Prabha Nepali claimed a wicket each for Pokhara.
In the inaugural match of the Group B that kicked off at TU Ground, Kirtipur today, Janakpur beat Region No. 3 (Kathmandu) by 50 runs. Janakpur made 154 runs in 40 overs with a wicket in hand.
Anuradha Chaudhary scored 41 runs, Sobha Aale 33 runs, Mamta Chaudhary 15 runs and Urmila Chaudhary 10 runs for winning team. Kathmandu’s Suman Khatiwada claimed two wickets.
Kathmandu’s batters had to leave the crease just for 104 runs at 33.2 overs as they could not stand long against the mighty bowlers — Saraswat Chaudhary, Anuradha Chaudhary and Shanti Chaudhary — of Janakpur. They all grabbed three wickets each for winner. Anuradha also won Player-of-the-match award.
Sarada Wagle and Sushma Shrestha had scored 26 runs and 10 runs, respectively, for Kathmandu.
Under the Group A, Pokhara and Nepal APF Club will vie at TU Ground, Kirtipur while Bhairahawa will face Region No. 2 (Birgunj) at Engineering Ground, Pulchowk. Both the matches are scheduled to begin at 9.30 am.
