New Horizon College, Butwal, has won the title of the 4th Hotel Devotee SPA Cup 2015 that concluded at the Seti Zone Police Office grounds in Dhangadi, Kailali on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
New Horizon defeated Sunrise Higher Secondary School, Kanchanpur, by 7 runs in the final to clinch the title of the tournament.
With the title, New Horizon bagged Rs 500,000 and runner-up Sunrise College received Rs 200,000.
Similarly, New Horizon’s captain Saurav Khanal was adjudging the man of the series. He was awarded Rs 50,000 as cash prize.
In the first batting, New Horizon scored 171 runs with the loss of six wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sompal Kami scored highest 40 runs while Sandip Sunar 34 runs, Prakash KC 23 runs and Saurav Khanal 24 runs for winner.
Sunrise’s Dipendra Yadav took two wickets while Man Bahadur Thapa, Subodh Srivastav and Sawan Ali took a wicket each.
While chasing the target, Sunrise College was all-out for 164 runs in 19.5 overs. Subodh Srivastav scored 46 runs and Mayanka Yadav 44 runs. National player Shakti Gauchan and Khanal claimed three wickets each for New Horizon.
Meanwhile, Sunrise’s Amit Shrestha was declared best batsmen while Pentagon’s Rahul BK won best bowler award, best fielder was Binod Lama of Durga Laxmi Multiple Campus and best foreign player Sunshine College’s Mayank Yadav. They all were awarded with Rs 25,000 each.
Similarly, Bipin Rawal of Kailali Multiple Campus, Dhangadi, was announced the rising player of the tournament. He won cricket kits.
Altogether, 16 teams from across the country had competed in the tournament that kicked off from January 30, 2015. Pentagon International College, Kathmandu, was the winner at the last edition of the tournament.
