TAAN to host “TAAN Lhosar Festival” on February 17

Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) is all set to host “TAAN Lhosar Festival” in Thamel – the tourist hotspot in Kathmandu Valley on February 17, 2015.
Organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, TAAN said that main aim of organising the festival was to promote Lhosar festival as a cultural tourism product which will see cultural performances of different ethnic groups like Gurungs, Tamangs and Sherpas.
The festival will begin with a colorful procession from Sanchayakosh Buildling which will pass through different thoroughfares in Thamel, said TAAN.
Similarly, the traditional dances — Ghatu (Gurung), Tamang (Selo) and Syabru (Sherpa) — will be performed at the festival while Ganesh Himal Tourism Development Committee will organise a special ‘Mhendo La’ Dance in Thamel.
Other attraction at the festival would be food festival which will feature food stalls (traditional cuisines) at the event venue of different communities.
Nevertheless, the festival will also see entertaining programmes — live concert, modern dances and DJ session, among others.
